Building Bonds: Multiplayer Games to Play with Your Friends

Building Bonds: Multiplayer Games to Play with Your Friends

The bliss of watching your favorite TV show, anticipating the next episode, playing the now-pixelated action games and so much more – the olden times in our lives weren’t ever taken for granted. It’s just somewhere along the way of growing up, you are burdened with responsibilities but the things you once enjoyed and everything that you could possibly enjoy now becomes secondary to most of us as if hidden behind a masked veil.

However, the entire COVID-19 situation has gotten people isolated into their homes. For how long can someone rewatch FRIENDS on Netflix? You’d have memorized each scene by now, every dialogue and so far would have nothing to anticipate anymore. While COVID-19 has turned our lives upside down, you can choose to turn your frown upside down and look for a better alternative that might as well have become secondary to you – gaming.

Gaming, however, has gone through several transitions. It’s no longer a blob of muddled pixels nor do you have to own an expensive console. All you need is a PC, a steam account and a good internet connection to download your favorites from the free-to-play list. But playing solo can become monotonous and boring. What you can do is invite your friends on a chat server, choose a multiplayer game and nag away each for every wrong in-game move you make. Ultimately there will be someone who’ll carry the match to victory.

But if you don’t know which multiplayer game to pick up, here are some suggestions that we have jotted down for you.

League of Legends

League of Legends has been dominating the MOBA scene for a good 10 years already. A 5v5 fight with your friends on a custom Summoner’s Rift map surely does sound enticing. There won’t be any flamers to mute in the chat. All you’ll need is a Discord lobby with your game mates. Even if you don’t have any premades to match up with, the League of Legends community is colossal. You’ll find an ADC duo or a competent Jungler to carry the game with you.

Dota 2

Toe-to-toe with League of Legends, Dota 2 is another popular title in the MOBA realm. The game’s mechanisms and gameplay style are a lot similar to LoL but that’s just what you’d expect from a typical MOBA. However, Dota 2 is a hard-earned name in the Esports scene. Owned by Valve, Dota 2 ranks second in the top free-to-play games on Steam. If you intend to give multiple MOBAs a try and see which one clicks for you, Dota 2 can be one option.

The battle royale genre is still going strong with Fortnite. Many deem PUBG as the genre’s trendsetter but Fortnite and its fusion of multiplayer battling and building forts gained the attention of young and adult gamers alike. The gameplay is bright, effervescent and will surely remind you of a Minecraft crossover. While Fornite does have a seemingly dull gameplay style, once you get around playing it, you will feel the quite opposite. You will as well have battle royale showdowns with your friends til the brink of midnight.

Many multiplayer games have joined the Esports regime and Blizzard’s Overwatch is one of them. Just when the gaming community began to assume shooting games are obsolete, Blizzard proved otherwise. Blizzard’s hero shooter game Overwatch is perfect for gamers who enjoy light shooting, roleplaying, voice chatting with friends and completing the game’s daily events in one long marathon.

Call of Duty: Warzone

Shooting games hit different when played with your game mates. Call of Duty: Warzone isn’t your ordinary CoD sequel. Warzone follows gameplay mechanisms of battle royale and players have to fight off each other until the game sees the last man standing. The game’s a breather if traditional first-person shooter games with mindless shooting have become a bore to you.

Virtually crafting your ideal home is possible through Minecraft. While the gameplay is straightforward, if you think you’ll pass each level without any turbulences then you are mistaken. Creepers are looking to attack you whenever you roam about the map so the game is challenging on its own. You will need to ramp up your arsenal. What has made Minecraft globally renowned for Twitch and YouTube streamers is its multiplayer mode. But you don’t have to watch strangers play the game when you can try it yourself.

Up for a match?

Self-isolating can drive you into an endless loop of boredom. You might think you would run out of shows to watch and work deadlines to complete but that won’t be the case if you equip yourself with high-speed internet such as conferred by Mediacom internet. Soon you will have a repository of multiplayer games and a squad of gamer friends who’d enjoy your company while gaming away!
